About Me
I grew up in a teaching home with a US History teacher for a dad and a love for learning was instilled in me early on. I love when I get to mix my love for learning with my love for creativity and art. In my classroom I hope to mix art, creativity, learning, and fun every day. I grew up in Oregon City, Oregon. After living in California and Colorado, I came back and still live in the Portland area. I love to draw and paint in my free time when I'm not reading or walking my dog Dagobah. I love sports, playing and watching, and I root for the Oregon Ducks, the Portland Trailblazers, the Portland Timbers, and the Green Bay Packers (although I do love the Seattle Seahawks!).
I studied art history and archaeology at Pepperdine University where I was able to intern at the Getty and at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). I also studied abroad in Greece and Italy and participated in two archaeological digs. I then studied art history in graduate school at the University of Oregon where I taught art history courses at the undergraduate level and worked at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA). At the museum, I worked in the education department writing K-12 arts education curriculum and teaching studio art classes. I then got my MAT from Concordia so I could teach art in the classroom, which brings me to Battle Ground and Maple Grove School!
My slideshow below includes pictures of my favorite things (including my dog) and places (especially Greece).
