6th grade students recently finished a large unit on Music in Art. We discussed how music can serve as inspiration for our artwork and saw how it has influenced artists in the past like Kandinsky. There were three different styles of music we explored including classical, jazz, and electronic. Student drew silhouettes and filled them with what classical music looked like in their heads while listening to it. They learned how the repetition and call and response in jazz relates to zentangle and they use electronic music to inspire large-scale abstract paintings.
