1st Grade art students learned about what an illustrator's job is while discovering the art of Maurice Sendak. We focused on the element of art, TEXTURE, and created different types of implied texture with crayon resist for our own Wild Things. Kindergarten had an awesome time creating collaborative Wild Things. We folded our papers into sections and each student was only allowed to see the section they were working on. We rotated and refolded each time so no one knew what the whole thing would look like until the very end. Students focused on different types of lines and shapes to make up their Wild Things. The end results were fantastic and the process was a ton of fun!
