6th grade has been focusing on a color theory unit and for this project they use a warm and cool color scheme to create jellyfish. They used liquid watercolors and salt to give the water that cool texture.

We've been celebrating International Dot Day this past week and have been working on creating a large collaborative dot-inspired project. Each student in art class this year in all grades used mixed media to create a series of dots using warm and cool colors. They then cut out their dots and glued them to larger dot posters. In the younger grades we've been having a great time singing along and learning the motions to the Dot Song. Our final collaborative installation by the office reminds students to "make your mark and see where it takes you."
First grade art classes have been diving into color these past weeks and after our color wheels and warm color deserts we explored cool color schemes through the illustrations of David Wiesner in Tuesday. Students drew flying frogs zooming over different landscapes ranging from the city to the beach and even to outer space. They then used chalk pastels to add a cool color scheme to their night landscapes. |
