7th/8th Grade Art Class used wood, wire, nylon, and paint to create these abstract sculptures. They learned about balance and movement in art, specifically in sculpture, and applied those principles to their own artwork. Students discovered the abstract sculptures of Jean Arp, Henry Moore, and Dale Chihuly. We specifically looked at the different types of glass sculpture Chihuly, a native Washingtonian, has been able to create over his career that are on display all over the world. Younger classes will also be exploring the work of Chihuly so stay tuned!
