Our 1st grade class has been learning all about the warm and cool colors. They made Starry Night inspired cityscape paintings using only cool colors first and then we moved on to the African savanna for warm color sunsets. We discussed the types of animals we would see in the Serengeti and each student chose an animal for their sunset artwork. The sunsets were made using chalk pastels and the foreground was made with black paint. We even learned a new technique for making realistic looking trees with a big rough paintbrush.
